Due to the fast-spreading in Spain of Covid-19, we SUGRAÑES IP ATTORNEYS - CONSULTANTS are tracking and following the guidelines and announcements of the Government and the recommendations of the Health Authorities both World Health Organization and our local health ministries to face the expansion of this virus, so most of our professionals (lawyers, technicians, paralegals and support staff) are already working remotely. We continue to be fully operational in order to offer, as usual, the highest quality in all our services, both in terms of advice on any of your files and before the Official Industrial Property Bodies and the Courts.
The last days, these Official Entities have adopted the following measures, all of them amendable according to new announcements by the competent authorities:
The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) has suspended all deadlines until March 29, 2020.
The European Patent Office (EPO) has postponed until April 17, 2020 all deadlines that expire after March 15, 2020.
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has also postponed all deadlines, in this case until May 1, 2020.
These are measures that refer to deadlines, which are postponed or temporarily suspended. These measures do not apply to the non-extendable period for claiming priority, which is as usual 12 months for patents and 6 months for trademarks and industrial designs.
It is important to bear in mind the above-mentioned Official Entities and we are prepared to file new patent, trademark and design applications in order to continue ensuring innovation, promotion and development.
As always, we are at your disposal for any doubt you may have or advice you may need. We remind you that you can contact us through the usual e-mail addresses and telephone numbers. We thank you for the trust you have placed in us.
