Notice of Fraud
SUGRAÑES advises the public of a notable increase in fraudulent communications sent to public and private entities as well as to individuals in recent months. The scammers behind these fraudulent emails and letters are posing as Official entities in an attempt to extract fee payment from patent and trademark applicants. These communications even reproduce letterheads, stamps and forged signatures of Official entities.
Therefore, applicants are advised that these type of fraudulent communications are not issued by any Official entity and do not have legal validity. There are clear and transparent mechanisms for collecting official maintenance and publication fees to which, as professionals, we have access.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully review documents received on this regard before proceeding with any payment and to assure that they are contracting products or services of their interest. If in doubt, please do not hesitate to contact us.
